Project Description
Nimbus Fish Hatchery Visitor Center
Rancho Cordova, CA
Visitors enter and follow shimmering metal salmon that appear overhead. The large windows are treated as an underwater view of the American River allowing them to swim with the spawning salmon. In this context, they access several interactive exhibits that tell the story of the salmon life cycle.
A 240 sq. ft. mural wall depicts the Bay Area watershed and creates a space for live hatchery viewing and a video theater that interprets the role of the hatchery in maintaining healthy populations.
